Principal's Welcome
September 1, 2009Welcome Back Matadors! Last year Mount Miguel posted the largest single gain in the California High School Exit Exam passing rate in the entire District. And the spirit and momentum continues as this year promises to be our best ever. This year you will find even more sections of AVID and honors and AP courses, while we now feature a complete college preparatory program for every single Matador! So, whether you are a new or returning Matador, we have worked hard to prepare for your return. It is our sincere desire that you have every opportunity to make new friends, take new classes, achieve all of your personal goals, and participate in a variety of sports, clubs and extra curricular activities. We are also proud to be starting the 2009-10 school year with the completion of so many facilities improvements. Using Proposition H funding, Mount Miguel has now replaced all underground utilities, storm drains and sewer systems. In addition, we’ve modernized our sidewalks and center quad. You also may have noticed our beautiful new Field Turf Stadium for football, soccer, PE, band, and youth football games. This field was made possible by a grant from the San Diego Chargers, Dianne Jacob, the Helix Water District and County Water Authority, maintenance and water savings from the Grossmont District, and our own ASB! So get swept up in the Matador spirit and get involved. Buy you ASB Card and attend all home sporting events for free and get discounts on all dances and away games. It is a super deal that pays for itself in a matter of weeks. And don’t forget, parents can also join PTSA, English Learner Advisory Committee, the Mt. Miguel Boosters, or our School Site Council.
